Have fun learning to paint with Pam and Larry Smith. Together they make learning to paint fun. Larry's specialty is landscapes, color theory and playing Do Wop music. Larry teaches both oil and acrylic painting. Pam is known for her patient ability to teach others how to create beautiful oil portraits (plus she bakes cookies and makes a mean spinach dip). Pam and Larry compliment each other. They bring strong teaching dynamics to the studio/classroom, while fostering an encouraging learning environment. Classes are suited to the beginner and to the experienced painter looking to improve their painting skills.

The Spring 2013 Painting Classes are our next scheduled classes. The Spring classes are offered on two different week days, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Each three-hour class meets one day a week, for eight consecutive weeks. You can choose from a morning, afternoon or evening class. Morning classes meet from 9am until noon. Afternoon classes meet from 1:30pm until 4:30pm and the evening classes meet from 6pm until 9pm.

The Wednesday classes begin March 20, 2013 and end May 8, 2013. (Go to page 2 on class listings below to view Wednesday classes). The Thursday classes start March 21, 2013 and end May 9, 2013.

Each class meets for three hours. For eight sessions. 24 hours of instruction is provided.

Desk top easels are available in the studio. Plus a few large easels. Painting supplies are not included. A material list is provided for both traditional landscapes and still lifes. An additional materials list is also offered for those who want to do portrait painting.

All classes meet at the new 2 Smith Art Gallery located in Historic Downtown Duluth. If possible plan a trip to the gallery to see some great art and to speak to Pam and Larry about taking an art class. We presently have the winter classes in session. Each year we offer four seasonal Eight-Week Sessions: Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall.

The dates for our 2013 Sessions are:

Summer 2013, beginning June 5, and 6.
